Joe Reising loved Hope Town and the Elbow Reef Lighthouse; the last kerosene burning lighthouse in the world. Joe brought this love and his carpentry skills to the Lighthouse Gift Shoppe.

Joe started volunteering at the Gift Shoppe in 2016 whenever he was in Hope Town and helped raise valuable funds to help restore the Elbow Reef Lighthouse!

Hurricane Dorian devastated Hope Town and the Lightstation in 2019. After spending countless hours helping Hope Town to rebuild, Joe then came over to the Lighthouse Gift Shoppe to help us get back open. He knew how much the Lighthouse was needed to promote community morale and recovery.

The world WILL be a lesser place without Joe in it but your love for Joe will preserve his legacy and support the restoration and preservation of this 159-year-old Bahamian icon.
